Following the Matchless take-over of 1931, AJS production was relocated to Plumstead where the existing range continued largely unaltered. Indeed, the two marques would retain largely separate identities until the outbreak of WW2. The 1938 range consisted of 16 models, ranging from a 250cc ohv to a 990cc sv V-twin,all with magneto iginition. At about this time, the engine lubrication was changed. Engine lubrication is provided by a full dry-sump system operated by a sturdy rotating plunger pump driven direct from crankshaft.

This short circuit racer was driven by Tony Sutton. This racer comes with literatur/history. The engine is very impressive and has a good torque. The engine with the 4 speed gearbox runs only with methanol. It´s ready to race!
